The Third Day of September Ides: Book Two
by Ely Asher

He came to rule the Empire after his father. He came at the time of unrest. A religion, which his Empire did not share, was crawling its way to the world dominance. Jews in the Middle East struggled to keep the followers of this religion at bay for years. Incidentally, a terrorist act, like the world had never seen before, happened in the largest city of the Empire. The followers of the same religion were blamed for it, and he had to see them hunted down...

No, this is not what you think. Actually, it has nothing to do with George W. Bush, Islam, and America.

The year is AD 64. The place is Rome of the Emperor Nero. The religion is Christianity.

Rome burned. Everybody from a street trader to the Emperor has problems to cope with, only the Emperor’s problems are more peculiar. First, he should show his people that he cares about them. Then, what about those whispers on the street? How could they say that he is the one who burned Rome? And, if disaster happened anyway, it won’t hurt to make an extra buck or two, would it?

Incidentally, all these problems come to a single junction: Who is the enemy? Others may ask who did it, but the Emperor knows the right question. In fact, he already knows the answer as well. That’s this new Jewish sect, the Christians, and he will see them hunted down. He even knows the name of the leader. Terrorist #1 Bin Jamen is at large somewhere out there. Luckily, Rome has a secret service. The best agent, Nil Nihil Septimus, is on the case.

There are just few troubles with this plan. To start from, Bin Jamen is merely an alias invented by the Emperor while experiencing a really bad hangover. He does not remember who was the real person under this name, but it was Nil. Also, there are people in Rome who don’t like Emperor’s answers. Well, they don’t like the Emperor either. And Nil is one of these people.

Many strange things happened while Nil searched for himself around the Roman world. Mysterious Templars, suffering and powerful Jewish Diaspora, Masonic Lodges ruling the world... Come to the time when their seeds were sawed into Mediterranean soil.
